The quickest way to get lost in Classic+ coverage is to treat every encouraging clue as if it answers the same question. A developer promising more Classic news, creators visiting Blizzard, and a new name appearing in a backend are three different kinds of evidence. None independently tells us when we can create a character.
As of our September 9, 2026 research check, we found no official Classic+ release date or complete feature announcement in the sources reviewed below. This is a dated finding, not a claim about what Blizzard might announce after publication.
What Blizzard has said
The January 29 State of Azeroth recap discusses ongoing Classic projects and says more is being saved for later. Its promise of more to come supports anticipation. It does not establish a product named Classic+, a level cap, a price, or a launch window. Official recap.
Blizzard separately confirms BlizzCon for September 12–13, 2026, in Anaheim. Those dates belong to the convention. They should not migrate into a release-date box for an unannounced game. Official BlizzCon announcement.
The distinction sounds fussy until a guild starts organizing time off around a headline. A convention announcement, a testing phase, and a launch are different milestones with different consequences for players.

The first milestone is documented in Blizzard's SoD announcement. The creator visit and Camelot entries are secondary reporting, not announcements from Blizzard: May reporting, Camelot reporting.
Why Camelot is interesting without being a feature list
Internal labels can indicate activity without describing the final thing players buy or play. Even if a label is correctly observed, the leap from that label to a raid roster, new race, or permanent level-60 server needs additional evidence. Treat “Camelot means Classic+” as an interpretation unless Blizzard connects the two publicly.
The same discipline applies to confidential creator visits. Attendance does not disclose the content of a presentation. A smile in a clip cannot tell us the business model. More people repeating the inference does not turn it into independent corroboration.
The unanswered questions that matter
Before making plans, look for an official answer to these separate questions:
- What is the project called, and what version of Warcraft does it build on?
- Are characters permanent, seasonal, or transferable somewhere at the end?
- What is playable at launch, and what is only a future ambition?
- Is there a test date, release date, or neither?
- What are the regions, realm types, and access requirements?
Do not assume existing subscriptions, prices, character transfers, or server arrangements automatically carry over to a hypothetical product. Those decisions need their own announcement.
Watch the primary material
2026 State of Azeroth — World of Warcraft. This is a broad official presentation, not a Classic+ reveal video. The linked written recap is the quickest way to check the relevant statements.
