WOW FOREVER · ALCHEMY 1-300 · BETA DATA 2026-09-23

Alchemy 1-300. No more healing potions. Elixirs carry you instead.

Forever took the healing potion ladder away from Alchemy and handed it to First Aid, which kills the route every Classic guide uses. What is left is still the cheapest crafting profession to level: elixirs and mana potions from 1 to 232, two Detect draughts to 286, then Greater Dreamless Sleep from a vendor pattern to finish.

THE ROUTE

Craft this, this many times.

Craft counts are the expected number for that range at Forever's skill-up colours, rounded up. The small numbers are the skill where the recipe turns yellow, green and grey; below the yellow number every craft is a guaranteed point. If a step finishes early, move on.

WHAT FOREVER CHANGED

Why a Classic guide gets this wrong.

  • Minor through Major Healing Potion are gone from Alchemy and now sit in First Aid. Alchemy keeps a separate Discolored Healing Potion line that uses Murloc Eyes. Beta data
  • Elixir of Minor Defense now takes Silverleaf, Peacebloom and a vial instead of two Silverleaf. It carries you from 1 to 90 on its own. Beta data
  • Over 70 new recipes: Mender’s, Spellblasting and Frenzy potions, Cleric’s and Mageblood elixirs. Almost all of them start yellow and go grey five points later, so they are gear, not levelling recipes. Beta data
  • Camp objects: Mana Well at 20, Fermenter at 140, Alchemy Laboratory at 300. The 300 one needs a Blueprint from a dungeon boss. Blizzard

TIPS

Before you spend a copper.

  • Buy vials in bulk from any alchemy supplier before you start. The route eats 210 Empty Vials, 80 Leaded and 84 Crystal.
  • Stranglekelp is the herb people forget. You need 84 of it for the mana potions between 120 and 195, so pick it up while you are fishing or swimming past.
  • Greater Dreamless Sleep Potion is a vendor pattern. Buy it before 275 so you are not stuck at 286.

Training ranks

  • Journeyman unlocks at skill 50, Expert at 125 and Artisan at 200, each raising the cap by 75. Beta data
  • Character level gates of 5, 10, 20 and 35 for the four ranks carry over from Classic. Beta players report Cooking reaching 150 before level 10, and a forum moderator called that a bug. Reported
  • Hitting 150, 225 and 300 in a profession each award a Legacy point the first time you do it on the account. Blizzard

How this was built

  • Every skill-up colour, reagent and recipe on these pages comes from Wowhead’s Forever database, which is mined from the beta client. Nothing is copied from a Classic guide.
  • A skill point is certain while a recipe is orange. From yellow to grey the chance falls in a straight line: (grey − skill) ÷ (grey − yellow). The craft counts are the expected number of crafts under that rule, rounded up, so real runs land a few either side.
  • The route is the cheapest expected path through all 300 points, costed with rough early-Classic auction and vendor prices, with a small cost for every recipe change so you are not buying a new pattern every three points. Recipes a trainer teaches win ties. Vendor patterns and quest rewards are allowed. Recipes that are new in Forever are only picked when they are clearly cheaper, and they are flagged, because Blizzard has not said how you learn them.
  • The shopping list expands anything you craft along the way (bolts, cured hides, grinding stones, blasting powder) into the raw goods, and counts crafted leftovers against later steps. Those intermediate crafts can give a few free points of their own, so you usually finish slightly early.
  • Beta is capped at level 20 and content above that is not playable yet. Colours for recipes above skill 225 are the most likely to move before launch on November 4.
