Tailoring 1-300. Bolts do not level you any more. Everything costs more cloth.
Tailoring is the most expensive profession to level in Forever by some distance. Bolts of Silk, Mageweave and Runecloth give no skill, Woolen goes grey at 85, and almost every item recipe went grey 25 to 35 points sooner than in Classic. The route below is the cheapest the data allows, and it still asks for roughly two thousand Runecloth. Level it alongside your character and keep every scrap.

Craft this, this many times.
Craft counts are the expected number for that range at Forever's skill-up colours, rounded up. The small numbers are the skill where the recipe turns yellow, green and grey; below the yellow number every craft is a guaranteed point. If a step finishes early, move on.

Why a Classic guide gets this wrong.
- Bolt of Silk Cloth, Bolt of Mageweave and Bolt of Runecloth are grey the moment you learn them. Bolt of Woolen Cloth goes grey at 85 instead of 105. Beta data
- Most older patterns go grey 25 to 35 points sooner than in Classic, so each one gives far fewer points. Beta data
- Around 180 new recipes, including Earthenweave and Ghostweave sets past 230 and reagent bags at 30, 75, 135, 205, 230 and 270. Some top-end crafts now need alchemist-made dyes. Their source is not confirmed. Beta data
- Tailors get gear embroidery, including five tiers of cloak embroidery that the beta data does not list yet. Blizzard
- Camp objects: Faction Banner at 20 (a Spirit buff), Spinning Wheel at 140, Loom at 300. Blizzard
Before you spend a copper.
- Do not sell cloth while levelling your character. The route wants 150 Linen, 741 Wool, 1,132 Silk, 1,185 Mageweave and 2,305 Runecloth.
- Several steps are vendor patterns (Azure Silk Gloves and Cloak, Enchanter’s Cowl, Icy Cloak, Admiral’s Hat). Buy them as you pass the vendor.
- Pair it with Enchanting and disenchant what you make, or send the greens to an enchanter friend.
Training ranks
- Journeyman unlocks at skill 50, Expert at 125 and Artisan at 200, each raising the cap by 75. Beta data
- Character level gates of 5, 10, 20 and 35 for the four ranks carry over from Classic. Beta players report Cooking reaching 150 before level 10, and a forum moderator called that a bug. Reported
- Hitting 150, 225 and 300 in a profession each award a Legacy point the first time you do it on the account. Blizzard
How this was built
- Every skill-up colour, reagent and recipe on these pages comes from Wowhead’s Forever database, which is mined from the beta client. Nothing is copied from a Classic guide.
- A skill point is certain while a recipe is orange. From yellow to grey the chance falls in a straight line: (grey − skill) ÷ (grey − yellow). The craft counts are the expected number of crafts under that rule, rounded up, so real runs land a few either side.
- The route is the cheapest expected path through all 300 points, costed with rough early-Classic auction and vendor prices, with a small cost for every recipe change so you are not buying a new pattern every three points. Recipes a trainer teaches win ties. Vendor patterns and quest rewards are allowed. Recipes that are new in Forever are only picked when they are clearly cheaper, and they are flagged, because Blizzard has not said how you learn them.
- The shopping list expands anything you craft along the way (bolts, cured hides, grinding stones, blasting powder) into the raw goods, and counts crafted leftovers against later steps. Those intermediate crafts can give a few free points of their own, so you usually finish slightly early.
- Beta is capped at level 20 and content above that is not playable yet. Colours for recipes above skill 225 are the most likely to move before launch on November 4.
