Leatherworking 1-300. More recipes, shorter windows, a mountain of Thick Leather.
Leatherworking lost its leather conversions as a levelling tool and had most patterns shortened by 20 to 25 points, so the route changes recipe 28 times. Light Armor Kits still take you from 1 to 55 for a stack of Light Leather. From 260 onward the old patterns run dry and the route leans on the new Blue Suede and Tooled Leather sets.

Craft this, this many times.
Craft counts are the expected number for that range at Forever's skill-up colours, rounded up. The small numbers are the skill where the recipe turns yellow, green and grey; below the yellow number every craft is a guaranteed point. If a step finishes early, move on.

Why a Classic guide gets this wrong.
- Medium, Heavy, Thick and Rugged Leather conversions are grey when learned, so they no longer give skill. Beta data
- Most older patterns reach grey 20 to 25 points sooner than in Classic. Beta data
- New Forceful and Mystic armor kits at 95, 155, 205 and 235 build on the old kits with dust and elixirs. New Totemic Leather, Blue Suede and Tooled Leather sets fill the gaps. Their source is not confirmed. Beta data
- Camp object: Tanning Rack at 140, which enables the advanced patterns. Blizzard
Before you spend a copper.
- Skinning pays for this entirely. The route needs 970 Thick Leather, 651 Light and 532 Rugged.
- The Wild Leather patterns are quest rewards in Feralas. Do that chain around 220 or you will be buying worse patterns.
- Buy salt from any leatherworking supplier. You need 276 for the cured hides.
Training ranks
- Journeyman unlocks at skill 50, Expert at 125 and Artisan at 200, each raising the cap by 75. Beta data
- Character level gates of 5, 10, 20 and 35 for the four ranks carry over from Classic. Beta players report Cooking reaching 150 before level 10, and a forum moderator called that a bug. Reported
- Hitting 150, 225 and 300 in a profession each award a Legacy point the first time you do it on the account. Blizzard
How this was built
- Every skill-up colour, reagent and recipe on these pages comes from Wowhead’s Forever database, which is mined from the beta client. Nothing is copied from a Classic guide.
- A skill point is certain while a recipe is orange. From yellow to grey the chance falls in a straight line: (grey − skill) ÷ (grey − yellow). The craft counts are the expected number of crafts under that rule, rounded up, so real runs land a few either side.
- The route is the cheapest expected path through all 300 points, costed with rough early-Classic auction and vendor prices, with a small cost for every recipe change so you are not buying a new pattern every three points. Recipes a trainer teaches win ties. Vendor patterns and quest rewards are allowed. Recipes that are new in Forever are only picked when they are clearly cheaper, and they are flagged, because Blizzard has not said how you learn them.
- The shopping list expands anything you craft along the way (bolts, cured hides, grinding stones, blasting powder) into the raw goods, and counts crafted leftovers against later steps. Those intermediate crafts can give a few free points of their own, so you usually finish slightly early.
- Beta is capped at level 20 and content above that is not playable yet. Colours for recipes above skill 225 are the most likely to move before launch on November 4.
Pairs well with
- Skinning 1-300: Skin what you kill. It levels itself.
Every bonus, camp object and Legacy perk is on the professions overview.
