WoW Forever System Requirements: What Blizzard Has Listed, and What the Spec Sites Made Up

There is no official WoW Forever system requirements page. The Battle.net shop lists 128 GB of SSD space and 8 GB of VRAM. Everything more precise than that is unsourced.

Short answer: Blizzard has not published a system requirements page for World of Warcraft: Forever. The only official numbers are in a requirements block on the Battle.net shop page: 128 GB of available SSD space and 8 GB of VRAM as minimums. The precise CPU, GPU and RAM tables you will find on a cluster of new spec sites are not sourced to Blizzard, and most of them are copies of modern retail WoW's requirements with the name changed.

What is confirmed

Forever runs on Windows and macOS; there is no console version. Access is included with a normal subscription or Game Time. The Battle.net shop's requirements block, pointed out by a forum user after a thread complained the main page had none, lists 128 GB of available SSD space and 8 GB of VRAM. That is the entire official record as of September 17.

What is reported

People who pre-installed the beta client early describe a download of "60 GB or more," varying with what WoW files were already on disk. The 128 GB figure from the shop is being read as the full installed size with headroom. Sites publishing "85 to 95 GB download, 120 GB installed" have no source for those numbers.

What to expect, reasoned rather than sourced

Forever is built on the Classic Era client, which shares its engine with modern WoW. Its new lighting, volumetric fog, water and the HD character models are the same technology retail uses, with the original art on top. So the honest expectation is that anything that runs modern WoW at your target settings runs Forever at the same settings, and anything that runs Classic Era comfortably will run Forever in SD mode. The HD toggle is the wildcard: Blizzard has said nothing about its performance cost, and nobody has benchmarked it because the client only became playable on beta day.

If you are deciding whether to buy the Epic Pack for beta access on hardware you are unsure about, wait a day. The first real benchmarks with the SD and HD toggle will exist by the weekend, and we will link them here.

Mac

Forever is listed for macOS. The 8 GB VRAM minimum suggests Apple Silicon machines with 16 GB or more of unified memory are the safe floor; Intel Macs with 8 GB total will struggle. Blizzard has not said which macOS versions are supported.

What we will update

This page tracks three things through the beta: Blizzard publishing a real requirements page, a measured download size from a clean install, and SD versus HD frame rate numbers. Bookmark it rather than the spec farms.
