WoW Forever Beta Level 30 Build: Fury Warrior Rework, 100% Crit Rage, 16 Free Legacy Points and Every Other Change

The October 1 WoW Forever beta build raised the cap to 30, gave Warriors 100% more rage on crits, rebuilt the Fury tree, made respecs 1 silver, nerfed Gnome Eureka again and locked Tauren Cultivation behind player level. Plus the 16 Legacy point grant, what the devs said on the class podcast, and the rough launch night.

THE WOW FOREVER COLLECTION · DISPATCH · RESEARCH CHECKED OCTOBER 2, 2026

Short answer: the WoW Forever beta went to level 30 on October 1, and the build is the biggest since launch. Warriors get 100% more rage from crits (up from the 75% Blizzard announced two days earlier), Fury's talent tree was rebuilt, respecs cost 1 silver for the rest of the beta, Gnome Eureka! got nerfed again and Tauren Cultivation now needs player level. Separately, Blizzard says every tester will get 16 Legacy points in a future week. The patch went live after about five hours of maintenance, and a login bug kept many testers on the character screen for an hour or more that evening.

The headline changes

The cap and the date came from Kaivax on September 30, who said the beta would return "with the level cap raised to 30." Our beta guide has the rest of the schedule.

Warriors: crit rage to 100%, and a new Fury tree

Kaivax posted the Warrior changes separately, a few hours after the build went live. The first line is the one Warriors were waiting for: "Additional Rage generated from landing Critical Strikes increased to 100% increased Rage (was 75%)." A crit now gives double the rage of a normal hit. If you missed the backstory, our rage normalization explainer covers why players were so angry.

The same post admits a bug. Dual Wield Specialization was adding its hit bonus to both weapons, which skewed Blizzard's own testing, so the team "did another pass on Fury Warrior." The goal, in Blizzard's words, is "more access to utility and meaningful choices early in the tree for leveling," and freeing up points that used to go into Enrage just to reach Flurry. The main changes:

  • Death Wish now gates Flurry. Enrage no longer does.
  • New Row 2 talent Lingering Rage delays out-of-combat rage decay by up to 10 seconds.
  • New Row 3 talent Furious Precision adds up to 10% hit to off-hand attacks. Dual Wield Specialization no longer gives off-hand hit at all.
  • New Row 6 talent Gore Drinker: Enrage, Berserker Rage, Bloodrage, Death Wish and Bloodthirst make your next 3 swings heal you for up to 1% of max health.
  • Whirlwind always hits with both weapons, no talent needed.
  • Booming Voice now also cuts shout rage costs by up to 25%.
  • Unbridled Wrath no longer gives two-handers double rage.
  • Improved Cleave and Boundless Rage are gone. Blood Craze no longer procs off Bloodthirst.
  • Berserker Rage trains at 30 (was 32).

Protection got a reshuffle aimed at what Blizzard calls a "PvP tech secondary specialization." Iron Will moves from Fury to Row 1 of Protection, Toughness is removed, and Improved Bloodrage, Revenge, Disarm and Shield Bash each move up a row so a non-shield Warrior can reach the middle of the tree. Arms gets a doubled Bloodthrill proc chance (now up to 20%, main hand only) and Slam's cooldown rises to 18 seconds, with Improved Slam cutting it by up to 3.

Early reaction in the thread is mostly happy with Fury. "It's in a great spot!" wrote one tester. Another called them "great changes" but said Arms is still short on rage "to the tune of maybe 30%." Players on other classes were less thrilled. "Please stop pandering to warriors," read one reply, and a Rogue asked why there was nothing for them.

One piece is still missing. On the WoW: Forever Podcast (more below), lead designer Kris Zierhut said Warriors "are not getting as much rage from taking damage as we intended," that an engineer is working on it next, and that the fix will not make this week's build. He hopes for next week. He also said he wants Warriors to be "the kings of cleave damage," and the designers confirmed Recklessness stays at 30 minutes on purpose.

Everyone else

The general notes are long. These are the changes most players will notice:

Paladin. Holy Strike scales better per rank (25% up to 50% weapon damage, was 25% to 40%), Holy's version drops to a 10 second cooldown and Improved Holy Strike is gone because it felt "required." Retribution's Vengeance now stacks only to 3 and only from direct crits, Two-Handed Weapon Specialization drops to 6%, and Righteous Fury's Holy threat bonus falls to 60%.

Mage. Arcane Missiles checks line of sight once at the start of the channel instead of on every missile. Wake of Fire lasts 30 seconds (was 20) and Hot Streak 20 (was 15). Ignite no longer double-dips on damage modifiers.

Druid. Wrath base damage up about 50%. Mangle is renamed Primal Bite, and Thorns now scales with spell power.

Hunter. Furious Howl's attack power bonus is down 40%, Bats get Sonic Blast, and you can no longer tame beasts above your level.

Shaman. Flametongue Totem no longer stacks with itself, Flametongue Weapon or Windfury Totem, and Tranquil Air, Windfury and Grace of Air totems no longer stack even from different Shamans. Elemental Fury and Elemental Alacrity swap rows, and Lava Burst ranks 1 and 2 hit harder.

Priest. Power Word: Shield can always overwrite another Power Word: Shield on a target without Weakened Soul.

Items. Wands no longer scale with spell damage, and Minor, Lesser and regular Wizard Oil go back to their Classic values of 8, 16 and 24 spell power.

Racials: Eureka, Cultivation, Touch of the Grave

Gnome's Eureka! is now the same on every class: a 10% discount on mana, rage or energy costs. Wowhead's datamining shows it also stopped working on periodic effects, so the next three non-periodic abilities cost 10% less and hit 10% harder. Wowhead calls it the second Eureka nerf.

Tauren Cultivation now has a level requirement for every herb, equal to the herb's skill requirement divided by 5. Anything above 300 skill needs level 60. That closes the trick players reported on day two of the beta, when packs of low-level Tauren Hunters were seen harvesting Winterspring herbs. We cover the bot side in our RMT crackdown dispatch.

Undead's Touch of the Grave no longer breaks crowd control or fires from abilities without a damage component, so Distract and Pick Pocket won't trigger it. Full racial text is on our racials page.

1 silver respecs, and 16 free Legacy points

For the rest of the beta, your first respec costs 1 silver. The next one costs "much higher," then drops back to 1 silver after an hour. Blizzard clearly wants people trying the new 21-point talents.

The Legacy news came in its own post. Kaivax said Blizzard has seen "an increasing number of testers pushing to earn points in the Legacy system," so in "a future week of the Beta" every tester gets 16 Legacy points, which is the full amount a character can spend at launch. The grant stays until the beta ends. Our Legacy system guide explains what those points buy.

Most replies loved it ("Unfathomably huge W"). A few people who had spent days farming points felt burned: "Would have been nice to know this before i dumped time and gold into farming points." The most-liked follow-up asks Blizzard to make Legacy respecs cheaper than the current 10 gold.

What the class podcast added

Episode 2 of the WoW: Forever Podcast went up on October 1 with Sodapoppin as guest, alongside Aggrend, Kris Zierhut and Aidan Moon. The newsworthy bits:

  • Rogue. Subtlety's 31-point talent will be replaced by Death Mark, ported from the Titan Reforge realms in China. You mark a target, it stores the damage you deal and bursts after 6 seconds. Zierhut: rogues "will be the highest single target damage dealers in the game" on standstill fights.
  • Hybrid tax. Zierhut put a number on it: "around 5% less damage" for hybrid DPS specs, and he counts Warriors as hybrids. A forum thread arguing Warriors aren't hybrids was already climbing by the morning.
  • Class blogs. Aggrend said class posts for every class are coming this week. Hunter, Druid, Priest and Warrior are already out.
  • Dungeons. Aggrend said the build would add two new dungeons, a Dalaran dungeon and an excavation site in the Wetlands. Icy Veins reports only one new dungeon is runnable this week. We haven't confirmed which, so check before you queue.

The episode drew mixed reaction. One thread praised the team's "guiding approach," while the most-liked replies in the episode thread complained that RP-PvP got no mention and that Blizzard featured a streamer during the gold buying row.

A rough launch night

Kaivax took the beta down at about 18:00 UTC on October 1. Players reported servers back roughly five hours later, and within minutes many were stuck on "Retrieving character list." Kaivax acknowledged a login issue at 00:03 UTC. Some testers were in within half an hour; the last post in the thread says it was "working for like 10 mins, now crashed again." There's been no all-clear from Blizzard yet.

Australian testers got a second problem: a pop-up telling them their social features were locked down. Kaivax called it a bug ("This is not the case, of course"). Players said it blocked whispers, groups and mail between their own characters. Some linked it to a new Blizzard age verification page for Australia, and one said completing age verification in Battle.net settings cleared it. Blizzard hasn't explained the cause.

There is also a fresh fight over XP. A thread demanding Blizzard "Revert the Dungeon Mob XP nerf or Open Refund" passed 250 posts in about four hours overnight, with no Blizzard reply. Its claim that quest XP was cut again isn't in the patch notes, so treat it as unconfirmed. Our dungeon XP nerf explainer has the background.
