THE WOW FOREVER COLLECTION · DISPATCH · RESEARCH CHECKED NOVEMBER 7, 2026
Short answer: Blizzard will hotfix three class problems on Tuesday, November 10. Voidwalkers and Hunter pets get whatever stat changes it takes to tank about as well as they do in Classic Era. Affliction Warlocks will get a reason to keep their DoTs up instead of channeling Wrack all fight, with no change to total damage. Enhancement Shamans will have Strength made their best stat, so Mage and Warlock gear stops being their upgrade. If you're leveling an Enhancement Shaman, Blizzard's advice is to start keeping Strength and Attack Power gear now. Blizzard says more tuning could follow on later Tuesdays.
What Blizzard announced
Kaivax posted "Class Tuning Incoming - November 10" on the US forums at 21:11 UTC on Friday, November 6, two days after launch. It opens with: "we've identified a few class issues that we feel need some immediate changes." The fixes are still being worked out, and they will go out as hotfixes on Tuesday, so you don't need a client patch.
There are three items:
| Problem | What Blizzard says it will do |
|---|---|
| Hunter pets and Warlock Voidwalkers are "not as durable as tanks as we would like them to be" | Adjust their stats so their "effectiveness is relatively the same as in Classic Era" |
| Affliction Warlocks do better by always channeling Wrack than by also casting Siphon Life, Corruption and Bane of Agony | Make those DoTs "always worthwhile to cast combined with Wrack, without affecting Affliction Warlocks' total damage output" |
| Enhancement Shamans find Intellect and Spell Power better than Strength and Attack Power | Make Strength "always their strongest stat", so Enhancement "will not prefer gear intended for Mages and Warlocks" |
The post ends with a schedule: "Our plan is to make class balance changes on Tuesday, and then on future Tuesdays if necessary." Kaivax also says the team "may find new issues over the weekend".
That matters because the November 2 notes said Blizzard didn't plan "big tuning changes" before raids open in December, "with the exception of bugs and serious outliers". These three count as outliers. In the thread, a player asked "What happened to no tuning until December". Another player answered that Blizzard had always kept the outlier exception and that "any big reworks will happen in 5 weeks."
Pets: the Voidwalker answer Warlocks wanted
This is the reply Warlocks have been asking for since launch. On November 2 Blizzard cut the health Warlock pets get from your Stamina from 7.5 to 2 per point, and by day two the forums were full of Voidwalkers dying to a single mob. We covered that in our Warlock pet piece, and Blizzard had said nothing until now.
Two things have changed. The November 6 hotfix list, posted late on Friday, already includes "Voidwalker base health increased by about 40 at all levels." That helps a little at level 10 and barely matters at 40. The bigger change is the Tuesday promise to bring Voidwalkers back to Classic Era effectiveness. Blizzard doesn't say whether it will restore the 7.5 Stamina scaling or raise armor or base health, and it doesn't mention the Imp or Succubus. Since the stated goal is tanking, expect the Voidwalker to get most of the attention.
Hunter pets are a surprise. Players had used Hunter pets as the healthy comparison, with one thread contrasting a 500 health Hunter pet against a 150 health Imp. Blizzard still lists them as falling short as tanks. Hunters were already one of the stronger leveling classes in beta (see our Hunter AFK rotation piece), so tankier pets would make them stronger.
The November 6 hotfixes also fix "an issue where some Warlock pet abilities were benefitting too much from the Orc Command racial ability". Orc Warlocks lose some pet damage there, before Tuesday's changes.
Affliction: Wrack was eating the rotation
Wrack is Affliction's new deep talent. It requires Siphon Life, and it's a channel that deals Shadow damage every second and makes your other Shadow DoTs hit the target 10% harder for 6 seconds. The November 2 notes doubled its spell power coefficient. After that, the best use of a GCD was usually more Wrack, and refreshing Corruption or Bane of Agony wasn't worth it.
Part of the problem was a bug. The November 6 hotfixes say "the Soul Siphon talent no longer incorrectly causes Wrack to increase its own damage." Soul Siphon boosts Drain Life, Drain Soul and Wrack for each of your other Affliction effects on the target, and Wrack was counting itself. That bug is already fixed. Tuesday's change is meant to make DoTs worth casting again without changing how much damage Affliction does overall.
For a lot of Affliction players this is the right call. One reply says: "DoTs ARE the source of damage" in Classic Affliction, and that the poster doesn't "want to channel Wrack in PvP". Until Tuesday, keep your DoTs up anyway. The self-buff bug is gone, so channel-only Wrack has already lost some of its edge, and DoTs keep ticking while you move.
Enhancement: stop wearing cloth
Enhancement is the only change that affects which gear you should keep. In Forever, the Enhancement tree (the one with Stormstrike) has a new talent called Mental Dexterity, which turns your Intellect into Attack Power. Because Intellect also gives mana and spell crit, players found that caster gear beat Strength gear for Enhancement. Blizzard's Shaman changes leaned into spell power hybrid Enhancement, and players were taking it further than Blizzard intended.
Blizzard wants Enhancement's best items to have "Strength or Attack Power, along with some Intellect and/or Spell Power". Kaivax adds a note for players leveling right now: "Enhancement Shaman players who are leveling up will want to collect Strength and Attack Power gear from now on."
In practice:
- Don't sell the Strength and Attack Power leather and mail you've been vendoring. After Tuesday, those pieces are probably your upgrades.
- Don't buy Intellect or Spell Power gear for Enhancement on the Auction House this weekend. It loses value on Tuesday.
- Mixed Strength and Intellect gear should keep its value, since that is what Blizzard says it wants.
Not everyone is happy. One reply opens with "Booo. Stacking int for mana and spell crit was amaz[ing]", and another says the hybrid caster build was "soo much fun" in beta. They're probably the minority. "Enhancement Shaman in Mage cloth" has been a forum joke since beta, and it doesn't fit how most people picture the spec.
What players are asking about instead
The thread had 258 posts, about 64,000 views and more than 1,000 likes by Saturday morning, which makes it one of the busiest blue posts since launch. Most replies welcome the changes ("Voidwalker is back on the menu boys"). Many others ask about issues the post doesn't cover. The most common are dungeon XP, layering, Druid tanks and Auction House deposit costs. Blizzard has not answered any of them in the thread.
Dungeon XP is the loudest. It got louder on Friday night when a group of five reached level 60 by AoE farming the open world, and we cover that in our world first piece. If you haven't settled on a main yet, our tier list and talent calculator still reflect the November 2 numbers. We will update both once Tuesday's notes are posted.
What to watch
Kaivax usually posts hotfix lists on the forum the evening they go live, so look for the full Tuesday list on November 10. The details we'd check first: whether the Voidwalker fix restores Stamina scaling or uses a different stat, how much Hunter pets change, and the exact Enhancement numbers (most likely a lower Mental Dexterity ratio, a higher Strength to Attack Power ratio, or both). We will add the actual numbers here when they are posted.
